Taping the "Dave Sweeney Christmas Special" for KOIN-6 TV at the Old Church
After the Good Day Oregon appearance, the group headed over to the Old Church in downtown Portland. There they set up and performed for a KOIN-6 TV camera crew taping for a Christmas Special called "Dave Sweeney's Christmas Special". They performed 4 songs for the special, appearing 3 different times during the hour long show. It aired Christmas day at 6 pm and then an encore performance again on New Year's Day at 6 pm, both on TV channel 6.
Appearance on "Good Day Oregon" Live, KPTV-12 in Portland
At an early hour on December 6, 2001, the group heads into Portland for an appearance on "Good Day Oregon", a live show with localized news and entertainment. They set up and were on the air about 8:45 am. Hosts Ken and Kim were happy to welcome the group back again this year. The kids were tired as the photographer caught a few nappers.
"Festival of Lessons and Carols" - St. Mary Church, Mt. Angel
Later that same day (Dec. 2) ROF headed for Mt. Angel for the first event of its kind, bringing three noted groups from Oregon together in one concert. Called the "Festival of Lessons and Carols", Darrell James organized and brought together his Salem Boys Choir, with the nationally known and award winning Spague High School Choir under the direction of Russell Christianson, and our own Ring of Fire handbell choir. It was a concert not to be missed in the beautiful, accoustical church of St. Mary in Mt. Angel, Oregon.
Christmas Evensong Concert - St. Paul Episcopal Church, Salem
The next day, December 2, the ROF headed for Salem, Oregon. Here they performed for the St. Paul Episcopal Church for a special monthly Evensong service. The concert was well attended and appreciated by the warm and friendly folks at St. Pauls.
Christmas Gala Concert - Lewis & Clark College, Portland
The annual Christmas Holiday Gala at Lewis & Clark College in Portland took place on a wet Saturday evening December 1. The college once again invited the ROF back to participate in this festive event by performing several Christmas carols. It was a great way to begin the Christmas holiday concert season.
"AM Northwest" Show on KATU-2 TV
On November 20, 2001, ROF performed on Portland's KATU-2 TV "AM Northwest", a live morning show that runs from 9:00-10:00 a.m. weekdays. Host Cathy Marshall was so impressed with the kids that she decided to have the 5 O'Clock News camera crew also tape for a story on the evening news.

2001 Annual Pie "Make" Fundraiser
Each year, the ROF has parents, other family members, and friends help pre-sell and then make apple pies on a Sunday in November. This year on Nov. 11 they gathered and made 632 pies. The pictures here tell the story!

Auguest 1, 2001, the 2000-2001 group ended the season with a bang! 900 people filled the Newmark Theatre in downtown Portland to listen to over an hour of music, including the NW debut of the "Italian Symphony" and "Firedance", both arranged by Kevin McChesney.
